The congress building “Sava Centar” embodied a vision of the future for the international, Non-Aligned, socialist Yugoslavia. After the country broke apart, this modernist landmark of New Belgrade was neglected by the state and, over decades, grew increasingly run down. The furniture that has resided in the building since the 1970s is stacked and gradually removed. Like many of the younger workers on the reconstruction, Nenad is in “Sava Centar” for the first time.
