Using excerpts from Myanmar’s state propaganda television, Lin Htet Aung investigates the oppressive machinery of power, reconstructing in a personal way the uncanny experience of growing up under a dictatorship. Through repetitive, digitally distorted images of television broadcasts accompanied by a hypnotic lullaby, he creates an “anti-transmission” ‒ a sensory experience that conveys the alienation, pain, and resilience of the people of Burma. The film was awarded the Tiger Short Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
