ΤΑΙΝΙΟΘΗΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, ΜΙΚΡΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ (ΚΑΝΑΡΗ 1) - DAYS OF 1936

The program which is signed by Aglaїa Mītropoulou refers to the fact that this second long film of the filmmaker is based on a true story which took place the period of Metaxa’s dictatorship in 1936. We are informed that “the director’s intention, however, was not just to transfer the incident to the cinema, but to connect it with references to the current dictatorship”. Also, it emphasizes the easiness with which Aggelopoulos “controls his media of expression” and captures the attention of the audience, as well as on his clever finding of having the leading character absent almost during the whole duration of the film. It stated that in comparison with REPRESENTATION, the film THE DAYS OF ’36 is “more evolved in the technical and narrative sense”. At the end appraises the photography of Giorgos Arvanitis.
