JINX (THE)
The coffee house of Mr. Agathoklis, “the jinx”, as the neighborhood calls him, gathers all the sluggards of the neighborhood. Despite his grumpiness, which often drives away his lazy regulars, nevertheless, his “lazybones” stay faithful to him. His landlady, Mrs Epistimi, is in love with Mr. Agathoklis and often takes sides against the others, who constantly speak ill of him. One day, on the threshold of the coffee house a baby is found abandoned, and people start spreading all sorts of rumors. A baby, of course, has its own needs, which can’t be met by a middle-aged bachelor, so he hires Maria as the nanny, who is also the real mother of the child. Agathoklis, although he has fallen in love with the girl, searches for the child’s father and sacrifices his own feelings for Maria’s happiness.
