Summary A pastoral drama in which a lithe shepherdess, Maro (the falcon of the title), the adopted daughter of the chief livestock-owner Panos, is emotionally involved with his son Liakos. They want badly to get married, but the chief shepherd refuses to consent. The romance creates various problems and even causes Maro’s brother, who had been hiding for years in the mountains, pursued by militiamen, to be killed.
