LOVE IN THE SAND DUNES
Posterior title: SCARECROW (THE)
A fugitive (Andreas Barkoulis) is washed ashore on an isolated beach where he meets a pretty and weird girl, Anna (Aliki Vougiouklaki), wandering on the sand dunes, together with a scarecrow. When he talks to her, he realizes that she isn’t exactly what we would call normal, but despite that he follows her and stays at her place. Anna’s father is an impoverished landowner (Giannis Argyris) who, although he knows that the visitor is an escapee, pretends not to understand, because he needs help with his farms. Gradually, the two young people fall for one another, while Anna is slowly becoming more mature, human and sane. However, her father doesn’t approve of their affair. When, one day, he has a fight with her and she threatens him that she will leave, he immediately snitches on her lover. The two officers who come to arrest the fugitive kill him and take with them his body, leaving behind them a completely crazy girl, running on the sand dunes, together with the scarecrow, and her father totally crushed.
