Summary A cynical young man, Giorgos, who believes that in this life you need to steer clear of principles and attachments, clashes with his father, captain Manolis and abandons the management of the family’s shipyard. Determined to build his life again, he gets a job as a waiter in a large hotel and believes that he can also get rich by taking advantage of the sorrows and the loneliness of the wealthy. Of course, he doesn’t accomplish anything. On the contrary, he learns to feel for others – and that’s how he recognizes the feelings that his father’s adopted daughter, Eirini, has for him. Until this happens, however, he has already gotten involved with, and played a catalytic role in, the lives of several people, each time with unexpected consequences. The film consists of four stories: a) “Two tickets to Majorca” where the hero tries to make a businessman see that his wife is about to leave him for the sake of a gigolo. b) In “the secret of the black glasses” he tries to give courage to an invalid girl so that she can recover her interest in life c) In “how to murder your loneliness” he gives unhoped-for joy to a lonely Greek-American, king of the toothpick, and helps him find his mate, a single mother who abandoned her baby at his door d) In “Invitation to Sweden” he averts the suicide of the daughter of a Swedish industrialist and helps her marry the Greek university student she loves.
