Summary A bankrupt businessman, Ntinos Apergis, confides in his fiancée that he is thinking of committing suicide. Rita, however, a poor telephone operator who has overheard the conversation, manages to stop him. Together with two good friends, she follows him to Skiathos and introduces herself to him as the daughter of Nick Pappas, the Greek-American oil tycoon. Pappas, however, comes to the island on vacation, along with his plump girlfriend Mitsi, who was Ntinos’ ex-fiancée. Ntinos, who in the meantime has fallen in love with Rita and knows she is lying, asks Pappas to treat her as if she were his real daughter. Thus, the lies continue on both sides until everything is put straight - thanks to love that blossomed where no one could imagine it.
