Summary Young Petros from Thessaloniki has just finished his studies abroad and now has plans to marry Kaiti, the daughter of a school principal. A distant cousin of Kaiti’s, Alekos, is also in love with her. He tries to thwart the marriage by exploiting the past of Petros’s mother, Anna, who works at a nightclub as a singer under the name of Sylvia. Kaiti’s father has serious objections as well, since he too knows Anna. He was once the head of the jury when Anna was convicted of killing her lover, Petros’ father (whom she killed when he abandoned her after learning she was pregnant). However, Kaiti’s unyielding love for him helps Petros erase the scars of the past. The story has an optimistic ending.
