ΤΑΙΝΙΟΘΗΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, ΜΙΚΡΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ (ΚΑΝΑΡΗ 1) - APACHES OF ATHENS (THE)

The program begins by praising the greatness of Cinema Art and by mentioning the loss of many films due to the disturbed periods that mediated between the two world wars and the human negligence. It mentions the intensive effort of the Film Archive to restore films and especially the case of APACHIDES which was restored with the assistance of the Lumiere social program. It gives us further information about the film mentioning that it is a “re-make of the homonym silent movie which was filmed in 1930 by Dimitris Gaziadis” and an “adaptation of the operetta of Nikos Chatziapostolou and Giannis Prineas in the cinema by I. Paraskevas”. The libretto of the operetta which refers to the works and life of a group of poor people in the Athenian neighborhood reaches us together with the songs and music of the most successful Greek operetta.
