The note aptly remarks that Buster Keaton, with his straight face and startled, childish expression, was the ideal performer for this comedy. In “THE GENERAL”, he takes a page out of history, the American Civil War, and presents it uncut, highlighting its madness. The film’s theme is based on a true story. Of great interest is the fact that in 1956 director Francis Lion filmed the movie "ΤΗΕ GREAT LOCOMOTIVE CHASE", which is a dramatized version of “THE GENERAL”.
