Summary The film is about the entanglements of three young men from the countryside who try to “scrape along” in the capital, at a time of great misery as well as of hope. The leader of the group is Angelos, a law student, who welcomes his rich uncle Lavrentis from Amaliada with the hidden hope that his luck will change. His uncle, however, is very sick, and the doctor recommends absolute peace, quiet and rest. Giougiou, however, an actress and Angelos’ girlfriend, proposes the exact opposite. Thus, Angelos, together with his wretched fellow-villagers Damianos and Sarantis, starts to drag his uncle to parties and all manner of debauchery, with the hope that the sick relative will die. But alas! The uncle gets better and better every day, while Angelos meets beautiful Myrto, with whom he falls violently in love. He decides, therefore, to finish his studies and make a life with her, while Damianos and Sarantis remain wretches forever, without consolation.
