GERMANS ARE RETURNING (THE)
World War II is over, but Greece is torn by Civil War. A peaceful little pater familias, Thodoros, doesn’t take kindly to some friends and neighbors who continuously fight about politics and sue each other at the drop of a hat. Thus, one afternoon, as he is dozing off in his armchair, he has a nightmare. Germans, who have just left, return and recapture Greece, imposing the kind of order that the now-free Greeks cannot seem to maintain. And the lesson? “You fools… you need the whip, since instead of cherishing freedom and peace, and go about making trouble and fighting each other!”
