DISUNION (THE)

An erotic-social drama that takes place on an Aegean island. Sponge-divers are getting ready for their next trip. Most of the boats belong to the noblewoman of the island, who exploits them hard, until one of the sponge-divers, Kostantis, revolts against the greedy and bossy woman. When the lady finds out that her younger daughter Thaleia is in love with Kostantis’ friend, Giorgis, the unexpected news creates a deep rupture in her household, and things take an unpleasant turn, when Thaleia confesses that she really wants Kostantis. She firmly resists her mother’s will, who had arranged her marriage to Giorgis, and elopes with her beloved. Thus, the two friends become rivals and resort to knives to expunge dishonor. In the end, the two men kill each other before the eyes of the islanders and of the unfortunate Thaleia, who is devastated.
