FROM THE STABLE TO THE SALON

Magdalo, a naïve village girl singing folk songs, travels by train to Athens, where she meets Fonta Georgiou, a double bass player who often gives recitals of classical music. Their radically different views about music create tension between them, to the point of anger. In the capital city Magdalo gets a job at a nightclub alongside a famous singer and soon, as a folk music star, takes the name Madga. Fontas, on the other hand, doesn’t manage to get a job despite his agent’s best efforts. To make ends meet, he is forced secretly to compose folk songs, which become hits. One day, their roads cross, but their pride won’t permit a reconciliation, despite their mutual attraction. In the meantime, Fotis manages to get back the properties that once belonged to Magdalo’s father and were bought by a ruthless moneylender for pennies. After all this, peace and harmony prevail in their tense relationship.
