Summary Mrs. Leni (Rena Vlachopoulou), a widow, down on her luck, is working as a cleaning lady at a big hotel trying to support herself and a daughter who is studying in the US. At the hotel she meets a rich young client, Stefanos Kriezis (Andreas Barkoulis), who is very sympathetic towards her. One day, Mrs. Leni’s daughter Kathryn (Nora Valsami) comes to visit together with her hippy fiancé and his father Pete, a rich Greek-American. Kriezis offers to help Mrs. Leni conceal the fact that she is now poor. He buys her expensive clothes, and she goes around the hotel pretending to be a high-society lady, often in the company of Kriezis, who is supposedly her nephew. But Kathryn and her fiancé decide to go and stay at the hippy-colony of Matala, in Crete, and live the rest of their lives without their parents’ money. Mrs. Leni, Stefanos and Pete start looking for them, but when they finally find them, the couple has split. Returning to Athens, Mrs. Leni comes clean with her daughter about her financial circumstances, but very soon receives an unexpected inheritance from her dead husband. In the end, Kriezis and Kathryn, who in the meantime have fallen in love with each other, get married, and Mrs. Leni also accepts Pete’s marriage proposal.
