MY NEPHEW, MANOLIS

A nice poor fellow from Amaliada, Manolis, comes unannounced to Athens to ask for a loan from his rich uncle and aunt – Mr. Aristeidis and his wife Aspasia – so as to marry off his sister. The uncle has another nephew by the same name (Manolis), a wealthy businessman in New York, who has sent a telegraph informing that he is coming to Athens. Mr. Aristeidis intends to marry his daughter Ioulia with the rich man from America. However, since Manolis from Amaliada is the first to arrive, he is thought to be the “American” Manolis, while the other one is mistaken for the nephew from Amaliada. A series of misunderstandings and a wealth of grotesque incidents follow until everything becomes clear and things set straight.
