Summary During his summer vacation on the island of Mytilene, a young and lonely employee, Kostas, becomes infatuated with a femme fatale, Anna, a thirty-five-year-old German woman who is married to a rich local businessman, Petros. However, one morning, after a night of sleeping together, Anna is found dead in the sea. At first, the police arrests Kostas, but soon he is released and returns to Athens. Then, he finds out that Petros is a criminal and returns to Mytilene to solve the case and discover Anna’s murderers. A series of events lead him to the conclusion that Anna, in her attempt to kill her husband, fell off the yacht and drowned. She was most likely caught in the nets that Petros had deployed to pull up an ancient statue that he intended to smuggle abroad.
