EACH TO HIS OWN MADNESS

The film is divided into six separate episodes with the following titles: a) The accident victim, b) Education, c) Today’s citizen, d) The little field e) Deprived by society, f) A time for love. A. Stavros is a wage earner and oil-painter, who feels badly threatened by industrial development and technology, so he decides to throw himself in front of an American’s oncoming car. B. Iordanis is a retired principal who is outraged at his granddaughter’s grades and begins preaching about the poor state of the educational system, which now seems to be governed by money. C. Giorgos is a simple civil servant who wonders about his role in this world. He accompanies his wife and mother-in-law to a nightspot and becomes infuriated by the offensive remarks made to the audience by the show’s master of ceremonies. D. Anna has been struggling for twenty years, and, after pulling a few strings, she hopes someone will do her a good turn and include her little plot of land on the city’s building plan, which would mean no more than a few minutes work for them. E. A man from Larissa who is in Athens on business meets a friend of his from Kozani, and they decide to go out, but he bumps into an acquaintance of his, a young mother driven to prostitution out of despair. The men’s plans for the evening are cancelled. F. Sotiris is a coward who imagines he is a superman, saving the woman of his dreams. When he finally approaches her, he discovers she is not at all how he had imagined her.
