MADAME X
A melodrama based on a theatrical play by the French playwright Alexandre Bisson, with the grand lady of the Greek theatre, Kyveli, as the leading actress – in her second and final appearance on film. It is the story of a woman who leaves her husband and child to follow her lover and thus becomes involved with the underworld. After several years, the lady in question is brought to court, accused of the murder of her lover. By some bizarre coincidence her lawyer is also her son, but no one is aware of the relationship. The feelings of sympathy towards the unfortunate accused lead her son to gradually discover the truth and later on to spare her from conviction. Nevertheless, the lady’s heart is too weak to withstand such an unexpected turn of events. The heroine succumbs to the inevitable, while she is in the arms of her son.
