Summary Xenofon Tsingenes, a naïve guy working as a conductor, saves the company books from a fire that broke out. Among them there are the accounting papers, as well as some love letters. The accounting papers show that one of the partners, Kosmas, is stealing from the other, Telis, whereas the love letters come from Kosmas’ wife, Lela, to Telis. At some point, Kosmas’ maid, who has had a crush on Xenofon, informs him that they are considering to let him go. Although he is not aware of the power of the documents he has acquired, he resorts to blackmail. Kosmas and his accountant, as well as Telis and Lela, try to steal the evidence, only to end up at the police station, where the whole thing gets fixed up. Xenofon will marry Vaggelio, in spite of his landlady’s lamentation.
