Film synopsis:
Two neighboring villages are almost at war over control of the water in the area. Panochori has abundant water but not an inch of arable land. On the other hand, Katochori has large expanses of land, but little water. The kindly and generous sergeant of the local gendarmerie, Dias (Zeus) is emotionally tied to the people of Panochori, but tries, in vain, to keep the order and at the same time reconcile the presidents of the two communities. In the end, order is restored thanks to the love between a young agronomist, Plouton (Pluto), who returns to Panochori and rises its residents, and Persefoni (Persephone), the only daughter of Mrs. Dimitra (Demeter), the noblewoman of the fertile Katochori.
