A middle-aged philandering actor, Thanasis Pallas, is separated from his wife and sees his fifteen-year-old son Antonis every Saturday. The previous day, he was in Crete for a University lecture and accepted a television producer’s offer to make a few bucks. In Athens, Antonis asks a friend of his to arrange a date with Lefki, the girl he likes. Thanasis returns to Athens with the young secretary from the production, Rita, but the sudden visit from an ex-lover forces him to turn her out. On Saturday morning, as always, he meets Antonis at a café, where he tries to take care of some business, while his future partner, Kiki, openly bats her eyes at him. With his son, he goes to a producer of TV ads, and discovers that the job he had been promised might fall through. Meanwhile, Antonis, who is uncertain about Lefkis’s feelings, tries to cancel the date and finally finds out that the girl prefers another boy. That night at his theater, Thanasis puts on a performance in honor of the Italian Ambassador. Afterwards, as usual, he is warmly applauded by the audience.
